About Vital Earth Minerals

A family-founded, woman-owned mineral supplement company rooted in Grand Junction, Colorado — and in a founding story that began with one woman’s determination to reclaim her health.

Who We Are

Vital Earth Minerals is a family-founded, woman-owned supplement company based in Grand Junction, Colorado. Since 2000, we have crafted liquid fulvic and humic mineral supplements using the same gentle, unhurried process, the same freshwater Southwest United States humate source, and the same small-batch production standards we started with.

We are not a large corporation. We are a company built by hand, guided by principle, and sustained by the loyalty of customers who have trusted us for over two decades. Our facility sits at the foot of the Colorado National Monument, bordered by high desert and the Rocky Mountains — a setting that reflects the values built into every bottle we make.

The Founding Story: Why Vital Earth Minerals Exists

Jody Ahrens and the Discovery That Started Everything

Vital Earth Minerals was born out of necessity — specifically, out of one woman’s refusal to accept that how she felt was simply how things had to be.

In 2000, Jody Ahrens was facing debilitating health challenges that conventional approaches were not resolving. Determined to find a natural path forward, she began researching the root causes of poor nutrition and vitality in modern life.

What she discovered changed the course of her life — and eventually, the lives of the customers who would come to trust the company she built.

Jody learned that modern agricultural practices had severely depleted the trace minerals from our food supply. The fulvic and humic acids that once entered our diets naturally through food grown in biologically rich soil were largely gone. And those compounds — produced over millions of years as ancient plant matter concentrated deep in the earth — played a fundamental role in how the body absorbs nutrients, supports energy, and maintains cellular health.*

She found a source of pristine, plant-derived fulvic and humic minerals drawn from a freshwater humate deposit in the Southwest United States, more than 25 feet below the earth’s surface — protected from modern contamination by both depth and geology. And she committed to making them the right way: a gentle, unhurried process that protected the minerals — no added heat, no shortcuts — so they reached people clean and naturally alkaline, the way nature made them.

Together with her daughter Rhonda Ahrens, Jody brought Vital Earth Minerals to life in 2000 — with a simple mission: to make the minerals that belong in our food, but no longer are, available to people who need them.

Rhonda Ahrens: Carrying the Vision Forward

Rhonda Ahrens co-founded Vital Earth Minerals alongside her mother Jody in 2000 and has been at the heart of the company ever since. As Jody has stepped back into retirement, Rhonda leads the company today as sole owner — carrying forward the founding vision with the same commitment to quality, sourcing integrity, and customer trust that defined Vital Earth Minerals from its first day.

Under Rhonda’s leadership, the company has grown its product line, expanded its facilities, and deepened its relationships with a loyal community of customers while never compromising on the principles that make Vital Earth Minerals different. The gentle, unhurried process has not changed. The source has not changed. The commitment to small-batch production has not changed.

What has changed is the reach — more people, more products, and a growing body of peer-reviewed research that continues to validate what Jody discovered in 2000.

As a woman-owned small business (WOSB), Vital Earth Minerals reflects the values of its leadership: a belief that honesty, transparency, and doing things the right way — even when it is harder and more expensive — are not optional.

Where We Are: Grand Junction, Colorado

Nestled at the foot of the Colorado National Monument, bordered by high desert and the Rocky Mountains, Grand Junction is not a typical location for a supplement company. But it is exactly the right one for us.
